International Strategy

We see momentum for cooperation and conflict in the world today. In this area of study, we examine strategies and governance in international relations by focusing on diverse actors. Issues across the world are analyzed from global, regional, and national standpoints.

*The term, "area," here does not refer to the major, department, or course to which students or faculty members belong. It is used for convenience and clarity to explain the areas of study that are currently offered in the two faculties. Students at SFC engage in projects based on their interests, consequently creating fields of study of their own.

Exploring the World with Increasing Complexity

We analyze a wide range of political, economic, and social phenomena that are unfolding across the world, and discuss global governance by covering topics including: conflict and cooperation, growth and distribution, governance and participation, and the impact of technological advancement on international relations.

Regional Strategy

The advancement of globalization requires us to reconsider the idea of regions. We discuss mechanisms in which globalization faces resistance across the globe, as in East Asia, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Africa.

Tackling Transnational Problems

We examine national and international policies, as well as the welfare of individuals and communities with a big question in mind: "What can we do to ensure freedom from threats that deprive human security, such as war and poverty, and enhance human security and safety?"

Diplomacy and Security

Tensions in East Asia are rising. That peace can be achieved through international cooperation is no longer a realistic scenario. We discuss ways to mitigate tensions in the region from a comprehensive perspective.
