Facilities and Equipment
SFC offers an extensive infrastructure such as facilities, equipment, and services to support students' learning and research activities.
Shonan Fujisawa Media Center (Library)
Library of Nursing and Medical Care
We support education to identify problems and find solutions from multiple aspects including accessing, obtaining, creating, and disseminating information. In addition to books, magazines, DVDs, e-books, and e-journals, the library provides a conducive environment for classes and content creation with various support infrastructure including the Fab Space, audio and video editing equipment, and studio facilities.
The Library of Nursing and Medical Care possesses extensive collections of specialized materials in medicine and nursing.

Campus Network System (CNS)
At SFC, over one thousand computers are connected to the campus network system (CNS) and are used for a wide range of research and education activities. Students have their own file space for personal use (where information is stored) on the CNS and can utilize the commercial databases and application software provided to share information with friends and faculty members via email, browse web pages, and create web pages incorporating photos, videos, and audio.
Students can also connect their own laptops to network outlets or wireless LAN to use CNS in classrooms, research laboratories, or the Media Center. Additionally, CNS is also accessible from home.
Faculty Research Building
Five research buildings (κ, ε, ι, ο, and λ), which also function as lecture buildings, stand next to each other in the center of the campus, while Δ, Ζ, and ν are independent research buildings located on campus. These eight research buildings accommodate individual research laboratories of full-time faculty members as well as joint research laboratories for each specialized field, serving as research hubs for students in their respective research seminars.
PC Rooms
The PC Rooms in the λ research and lecture building are equipped with computers connected to the campus network system (CNS) and are used for classes for the programming courses as well as the Fundamentals of Information Technology courses, which many first-year students take. The computers are available for use when classes are not held.
At SFC, a 24-hour campus, students are granted permission to do overnight study called "zanryu." Students work on their assignments and research on campus day and night. The PC Rooms are used for overnight study and are kept lit late into the night.
About BYOD
Residential Research and Education Facility (β Village)
The β Village, a residential research and education facility, is where students, faculty members, and researchers stay full-time in order to devote themselves to their research. Houses 1-4, Research and Education Presentation Building, Research Laboratory Building, Pavilion, and DFF-W are operated by the SBC Project.
International Student Dormitory (H Village)
Located on campus, this international student dormitory consists of four residential buildings called Houses (Paprika, Turmeric, Rosemary, and Basil) and a common building (Salt). Each House mainly consists of units with five students each. They put the dormitory concept of "living while learning, and learning while living" into practice through living with peers from diverse backgrounds. Persons who are not residents can also have lunch at the cafeteria in the common building.
Fab Campus
SFC promotes the entire campus as an experimental site for smart sustainable fabrication by distributing a wide variety of fabrication equipment throughout the campus.
●Media Center: Fab Space (3D printers, laser cutter, digital embroidery sewing machines, etc.)
●Ζ Building: DFF-M (metalworking facility)
●ο Building: IoT devices (electronic equipment and robotics)
●β Village: DFF-W (woodworking facility), architecture, atelier
Studio
A studio for filming, recording, and sound editing is located on the basement floor of the Media Center. The studio is equipped with film lighting equipment, and chroma key curtains (white, black, blue, and green) for shooting films/photos to composite multiple images. In the sound studio, students can use software for recording, editing, and sound processing work.
Gymnasium and Training Gym
The first floor includes various training areas, mainly for weight training (machines, free weights, and exercise bikes), as well as a judo hall and a kendo hall. On the second floor, there is an arena (for volleyball, basketball, badminton, futsal, etc.) and a fitness room (for dance, table tennis, etc.), which are used for physical education classes and activities by authorized student clubs. Changing and shower rooms are also available to help students refresh and recharge mentally and physically.
Sports Ground
On the sports ground, students play soccer, rugby, softball, and other new sports such as ultimate and touch football. The sports ground is available for use outside of class hours. Like the gymnasium, the sports ground is bustling with students participating in physical education classes or authorized student club activities.
Tennis Court
Four tennis courts are available for student group activities and individual use when classes are not held.
Student Cafeteria and Stores
Five cafeterias and stores (co-op store and convenience store) are available on campus. While many of them are located in the Σ (Sigma) Building, the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care, Salt House (in the H Village), and Student Lounge overlooking the Kamoike (Duck Pond) also have dining facilities and stores. In addition, depending on the day, students can grab lunch from a variety of food trucks on campus.
Kamoike Lounge
The Kamoike Lounge is located on the basement floor of the Σ (Sigma) Building and can accommodate up to 100 people. The area consists of 39 individual seats, 55 seats for small groups, and a sofa with tiered seating. The lounge is available to meet various needs, such as individuals taking a break or several students having discussions as a group.
Student Lounge and Kamoike Terrace
The Student Lounge overlooking the Kamoike (Duck Pond) has a Subway outlet, where many students hang out from morning till night. On the rooftop of the lounge is the Kamoike Terrace, where you can relax and enjoy the view of the Kamoike.
Gulliver Pond (Kamoike)
Although its official name is Gulliver Pond, it is known as Kamoike (Duck Pond) among students. The nickname comes from the four ducks that were released into this pond when SFC was first established. Since then, wild ducks began to migrate to the pond one after another. Students who relax on the lawn, have lunch, or bask in the sun while watching the ducks swim by and play in the pond are described as "kamoru" (ducking). As wireless LAN is available anywhere on campus, many students sit by the pond and work on their laptops on days with good weather.
