Prof. Rajib Shaw Wins the 2022 United Nations Sasakawa Award for Disaster Risk Reduction

Sasakawa 3.jpgOn May 25, 2022, Prof. Rajib Shaw of the Keio University Graduate School of Media and Governance was recognized with the 2022 United Nations Sasakawa Award for Disaster Risk Reduction.

Prof. Shaw was awarded the prize in the individual category at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction convened by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) for his work championing multi-hazard community-based disaster risk reduction in six Asian countries, and his work has led to the establishment of village-level community-based working groups.

This award is the recognition of great work of my students and research collaborators. I thank all the learning I had from them as well as communities where I have worked. I dedicate this award to all young scientists and youth groups involved in disaster risk reduction.
