Overview of each volume

Social Innovation: methods and practices

Policy management emphasizes crossing bridges and boundaries of existing theoretical and institutional frameworks, such as government and markets, profit and non-profit, organizations and community, and systemized individual policy and research fields. Doing so allows us to conceive new frameworks and relationships, deduce what issues society must address in the future, and take the lead ourselves in carrying out plans. SFC has brought forth numerous social innovations largely due to such interdisciplinary and emergent approaches.
Such new ties have become increasingly valued as demand rises for businesses to be socially responsible, for NPOs and NGOs to be sustainable, and for governments to be more collaborative. New ways of viewing these activities, groups, and organizations have become necessary. Furthermore, real social issues are being approached through a merging of various disciplines. This book examines various phenomena that are arising and transforming; processes and conditions that give rise to new activities, projects, and organizations; the creation and practice of new fields of research that arise from the collaboration between diverse actors and issues; and the varied ways of evaluation and their significance.
