High School Students Visit SFC under the "Sakura Science High School Program"

On Friday, April 22, high school students visited SFC under the “Sakura Science High School Program.”

The “Sakura Science High School Program” is operated by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), and invites high school students from Asian countries and provides opportunities for the students to come in contact with Japan’s advanced technologies and scientists. The visit was a part of JST’s operations, and the group consisted of high school students and supervising teachers totaling 72 from India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and the Philippines.

The group was greeted by Tatsuya Hagino, Professor of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, and received explanations on Keio University, SFC, and the GIGA Program, a unique program where a degree can be earned through courses taught in English. Following this, Achmad Husni Thamrin, Project Assistant Professor of the Graduate School of Media and Governance, gave a mock lecture on how the internet works. Later, an interactive session lead by Yoko Hasebe, Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, and current SFC students, was held. By exchanging opinions on themes such as “Draw an image of university & university education in your mind,” and giving presentations, each high school student shared his or her educational vision with the group
