Community Educational Programs and Local Revitalization Support
(selected in academic year 2004, completed in academic year 2006)
- Theme: "Contributing to Regional Revitalization"
- Initiative Project Manager: Professor Ikuyo Kaneko, Graduate School of Policy Management
- Imitative Project Outline: The project aims to revitalize local systems through innovative schemes utilizing dormant regional resources. Each region possesses abundant human and cultural resources that can be useful to develop both society and economy. If these can be skillfully linked to intellectual and technical resources of the university, innovative and practical education can be created. In the past the relationship between universities and their localities were limited.
This initiative aims to propose new and unprecedented education for universities where they can continue to interact with local communities for a long time. For example, universities could conduct workshops for local participation, a space for electronic communications and a business matching center. By doing so, the university can improve its educational program much needed by society. The Program would contribute to local revitalization and promotes social innovation.
- Period of Implementation: October 21, 2004 (date of selection) - March 31, 2007
