Japanese Classes

Japanese Classes for International Students and Returnees

Japanese Language Classes at SFC

SFC offers four Japanese language skill subjects to students every semester. Japanese 1 (communication) class develops student’s communication ability. It is a unique project-based class which emphasizes fieldwork. Many projects such as debate sessions, debate session camps, presentation at regional elementary and junior high schools, production of video introducing SFC and market research have been conducted in the past.

In the Japanese 2 (technical writing) class, students learn practical techniques on how to write a report / research paper in Japanese and methods to express what they wish to convey. This class also addresses common expression problems of non-Japanese and Japanese returnees. Video conferences with other campuses, universities and overseas organizations may also be conducted.

Japanese 3 (skill) and Japanese 4 (skill) classes take finely-tuned responses to problems of each student using the Japanese language. Students not only acquire “four language skills” (listening, speaking, reading and writing) in a balanced manner, but also learn “reading and writing of kanji” which meets the specialized needs of Japanese returnees.
